Andy Goldsworthy Nature Art

Lesson: Art and design

Class: Willow Class Year: 2023 - 2024

This term we have been looking at the work of Andy Goldsworthy.

We have been discussing how he collects different natural items to help create his artwork - even cow dung - which the children found amusing! We spent some time looking at his work and talking about why we liked and disliked it and trying to guess what natural materials he had used. Then we went on a nature hunt in the school grounds to collect our own natural items to use - some children even collected some at home and brought them in.

The children really enjoyed creating their own piece of nature art and lots of them chose to draw upon the symmetry and circularity of a lot of Andy Goldsworthy's pieces. Why don't you see if you can make a piece of nature art at home together? We would love to see!
