What a drizzly week it has been!
Despite the weather, we have had a busy and exciting week of learning. In Maths, Year 1 have been learning about the months of the year and telling the time to o’clock. Year 2 have been building on this by telling the time to quarter past and quarter to, and have begun exploring time in 5-minute intervals. Here is a game you can play! What's the Time Mr. Wolf? Game O'Clock What's the Time Mr Wolf? Half Past Version Game
In History, we have been thinking about the past and discussed reasons why people might have visited the seaside 100 years ago. In Science, we explored the life cycle of a butterfly. We brought this to life by acting out each stage – egg, caterpillar, chrysalis and butterfly – which helped us to understand the process in a fun and memorable way. In English, we have been reading Pirates of Scurvy Sands and have started to identify the key features of instructions and diary entries. The Pirates of Scurvy Sands- Read Aloud books for kids
In Art, we discussed the question ‘What is art?’ and drew something we have created that we feel is art. We also shared why we are proud of our creations. In Music, we enjoyed learning the traditional Polish circle dance song Tanczymy labada. We welcomed Tom and Harold the Giraffe from the Life Education Centre. During the session, we explored different parts of the body, learned how to look after our brain by making healthy choices, and discussed how we can stay safe in everyday situations.
In Phonics, Year 1 have been learning that both ear and are can make the ‘air’ sound, while Year 2 have been learning that tion often makes a ‘shun’ sound. In PE, we practised some traditional races, including the sack race, bean bag race and egg and spoon race, developing our teamwork and coordination.
Our play project has continued with our pirate theme, where we have been busy creating pirate ships, treasure chests, eye patches, maps, flags and telescopes through our imaginative play.
