An Egg-cellent End to an Incredible Term
We have had such a busy and joyful end to the term, finishing with a wonderful celebration of Easter. During our Easter church service, we were incredibly proud of the part we played. We worked hard to create a beautiful poem, confidently read our words aloud, and produced thoughtful artwork to accompany it. We showed teamwork, creativity and respect, and it was amazing to see everything come together so successfully.
Here is our poem:
Hopping bunnies play out in the fields so bright.
Always shows his love and fills our hearts with light.
Painting eggs in colours that shine and glow.
People pray and sing, letting his love show.
Young and old come together, feeling cheer.
Everyone feels his love, warm and near.
Animals remind us that new life begins.
Special Easter joy makes us smile with grins.
The tomb was empty – Jesus rose that day.
Easter brings hope in such a special way.
Remember Jesus and the price he chose to pay.
In Maths, the Year 1s have been learning about number bonds to 19. With the help of the Year 2 children, we explored how our knowledge of number bonds to 10 can help us solve number bonds to 20. We enjoyed working together and challenging ourselves with our maths thinking.
In RE, we retold the Easter story through acting before recalling the key parts of Holy Week. We explored the big question: Why is Good Friday called Good Friday? We reflected on how it is a sad day, but how Easter Sunday brings joy, hope and celebration. In English, we completed our hot writes, and Miss Jackson was blown away by our independence, attention to detail and imagination. We worked hard to include exciting ideas and were very proud of our finished writing.
In PE, we made the most of an unpredictable hailstorm by practising mindfulness and yoga. We focused on our breathing, balance and calmness, even while the weather was wild outside! In Geography, we went on a journey around the school site, identifying the features of spring that we could see. We created our own journey sticks to help us remember what we noticed along the way. In Computing, we explored tally charts and learned how information collected in a tally can be shown in a pictogram. We enjoyed interpreting data and talking about what it shows us.
We have continued to explore our play project and created our own retelling of the Easter story, brilliantly directed by Alice, Alfie and Woody. We also used guttering to build tracks and tested the speed that cars travelled using different gutter combinations. Alongside this, we practised contractions and painted our own unique Easter pictures.
We finished the term in a very exciting way with an Easter egg hunt! First, we made our own baskets and then set off to locate the hidden eggs. We also enjoyed a special show and tell, where Miss Jackson shared her recent Lego builds with us.
We have enjoyed:
- Finding Easter eggs on our hunt - Toby, Szymon and Penny.
- Drawing pictures of new life for Easter - Bea.
- Making a Easter basket - Bunny, India, Ralph and Alicja.
- Using the numblobs to retell an Easter service - Loris.
- Finding out facts from the 100 facts book - Gracie and Raf.
- Making a cross - George.
- Going to the Easter Service - Edie and Sophie.
- Making a film with Alfie about the Easter story - Woody and Alice.
- Making a pet Keith the iron with Brio - Roberta.
- Reading my lines at the church - Daisy-Mai.
What an incredible term we have had!
We hope you have a restful and sunny break, and we look forward to seeing everyone again in Term 5.
