Another busy week of learning!

In Phonics, Year 1 learnt the ie grapheme making the igh sound. Year 2 explored the spelling rule for adding s and es to words ending in y.

In Maths, Year 2 worked on finding 10 more and 10 less and began looking at pentagons. Year 1 focused on making teen numbers and representing them using practical resources.In Maths fluency Year 1 have been using rekenreks to make 6 and 7. Year 2 have been exploring doubles and odd and even numbers.

In Science, we learnt about herbivores, omnivores and carnivores, sorting animals into groups based on what they eat. In RE,we explored the celebration of Shabbat, learning how Jewish families mark this special weekly event. We also practised the greeting Shabbat shalom.

In PE, we played small-sided cricket games, developing our batting, bowling and teamwork skills. Some of the class also learnt some basketball skills with Sadie from Kingshill. In Computing this week we learnt about staying safe online, discussing what information is safe to share and who we can talk to if something doesn’t feel right.

In English, we revisited our ladder letters, focusing on careful formation. On Free Write Friday, we followed the red cross on our map and used our imaginations to decide where it led us.

Our play project linked to our history learning. We identified reasons why the fire spread so quickly and explored this through hands-on activities. We created inspired art, built Tudor housemodels, and used water play to investigate how buckets would have been used to put out fires.
