Willow Class Blog Summer 2 Week 7

Date: 20th Jul 2025 @ 12:51pm

We did it! After a very busy few weeks we have reached the end of the school year. It has been an absolute joy to teach Willow this year and what an incredible and busy year it has been.

From Nativity, to exploring all things play, to celebrating many national days through our play projects, school trips to the pantomine and STEAM, to earning out DT licenses and learning to sew, what a learning journey it has been.

We have had a fabulous final week, trying crumble from our trees apples, finishing our Geography learning by creating sketch maps of Ampney Crucis and then sampling the grass area of school for bugs and plants. We found a lot of ladybirds! We also created special food bank posters for Mr Roache to promote Cirencester Food Bank. We are going to explore how we can continue to help as a school next year. We chose our final end of term treat and watched Sing! with some popcorn. We also sang B-E-T-H-L-E-H-E-M to Julia (Yes we know its July!) as she missed out on the magic of Nativity. We remembered it!

We also enjoyed singing and saying farewell to the Year 6s. We loved seeing some of them wearing our socks the next day! We also said a farewell to Mrs Wood. We have enjoyed Mrs Wood teaching us every Tuesday Computing and her daily catch ups. We celebrated Mrs Wood with a whole school assembly and gave her a special card and two snack tins (with lots of coffee in!) to remind her of us and our snack station. We wrote some very special rules to ensure she doesn't eat too much chocolate! We will miss Mrs Wood lots but wish her well in her new school.

To finish this year off, Miss Jackson wrote this poem that the children took home that sums up our time in Willow perfectly, the children may need to help you understand what all these special moments mean.

Willow Class, what a year!

A poem for Willow Class.

Willow Class, it’s time for cheer,

For all you’ve done this brilliant year!

From autumn leaves to summer sun,

You’ve laughed and learned, you’ve had such fun.

In the Nativity, you took to the stage,

Singing B-E-T-H-L-E-H-E-M- you lit the page!

With the help of Maple’s angel wings and shining lights,

You warmed all our hearts and shone so bright!

We journeyed to the Museum of STEAM

So many wonders – you got to dream.

Steam trains galore and toys to play,

History brightened up your day.

In Geography, you sang so strong,

The Continents Song – a catchy song!

From Asia, Europe and Africa too,

You named them all – what stars are you!

History brought you old toys to share,

From long ago with such pride and care.

The Great Fire of London, what a delight,

We loved watching our model set alight.

In DT you passed the test,

With saws  and glue – you were the best!

Castles and planes all constructed with glue,

You built sturdy things that really flew.

Black display boards shining bright,

Held all your work in pure delight.

Stories, paintings, play at its best,

Your learning journey out ways the rest.

In Maths, your pointy finger found its power,

Pointing proud, hour by hour.

Counting high and thinking deep,

Even when you’d rather sleep.

You ran, you jumped, you learned to play,

And made kind choices every day.

With gentle hearts and joyful noise,

You shared your smiles – and the joys.

And though Merry Christmas came in December,

Your teacher’s care made us remember:

The joy and love and warmth don’t end –

They last all year, from friend to friend.

So here’s to you, our Willow crew –

So bright, so brave, so full of you!

Keep shining strong, keep spirits high,

Reach for the stars - go and touch the sky.

Thank you so much for the support and love you have all shared with Willow Class this year. We are so incredibly grateful for all the kind messages and gifts.

Have a fabulous summer, stay safe and Year 1s we will roll again with the Willow magic in September. Year 2s, you are amazing! We will see you shining bright in Chestnut. Remember we are only next door.

Remember to snap a photo of yourself if you wear your tie dye shirt!
