Willow Class blog Summer 1 Week 3
Date: 16th May 2025 @ 12:07pm
Another week of fantastic learning in Willow. In Maths Y1s have started learning about adding single digit numbers and used rekenreks to cross over 10. Yr 2 have finished time and are now learning about adding pounds. In English, we have planned our innovated story based on 'Dragon Post' using pictures. Next week we will begin to write our stories. In History, we sorted toys into the age group they would be played with. In Computing, we gave the beebots instructions to make them move. In Science we created our own experiment and are recording 'Does a plant stay healthy when it has no light'. We are taking photos each day to see what happens. We planted one plant in light and one without. We then predicted what we think will happen. In RE, the story of Matthew and we wrote Matthew praise bubbles for showing courage. Today we are learning a new song in Music, in PSHE we are looking at perseverance and in PE we will be learning the skills of dodgeball. We have also started to earn our DT licenses and shared the book 'What we'll build' by Oliver Jeffers What We'll Build by Oliver Jeffers. We have played in the sand, built cake stands, vehicles using wheels and magnetic tiles, created water slides with water play and also created our own clocks with moving hands.
We have enjoyed:
- Making a moving clock - Ivy, Roman and Gracie
- Working with Gracie to tell the time on the clocks - Raf.
- Making a walnut friend - Finley.
- Adding up the animals - Grey and Freddie.
- Playing skittles like we did in the museum - Roberta and Archie.

- Making homes for the animals in the sand - Lilli, Octavia and Archie.
