Willow Class blog Autumn 2 Week 6
Date: 12th Dec 2025 @ 12:29pm
What an incredibly busy week! Willow has outshone themselves this week with our very own ‘Bethlehem Bake off’. They have been absolutely outstanding and the time, effort and hard work really paid off. Thank you to the Ritzen’s for the most amazing showstopper cake! We loved having a slice to celebrate yesterday! A huge thank you also goes to Mrs Gardener for her absolutely incredible prop making. Eric the elf has been throwing snowballs, riding zipwires and even his friend appeared causing toilet roll chaos.
We have worked hard on seeing what we already know this week revisiting adding and subtracting in Maths, all the phonics sounds we have learned so far in phonics and group 2 have written brilliant animal trapping machines.
In RE we have celebrated to special occasions this week, finding out about what happens around a babies birth and acting out a baptism. We also looked at how people may show they belong by getting married. We even acted out our own ceremony! We also looked at how Hindu’s celebrate marriage. In Science, we have explored natural and man made materials, alongside exploring whether objects sink or float and absorbency. We have also loved completing some draw with me activities this week. Here is one to try at home: How To Draw A Snowman. We have also taste tested smoothies and decided on our own flavours to make our own Monday.
We have begun our Christmas crafts – making Christmas cards. We will be making decorations next week! We are also super excited for the disco tonight, what a great way to celebrate our hard work.
Here is a little poem that summerises our time practising the bake off:
We mixed and stirred, we baked with care,
We shared our story everywhere!
The donkey helped, the angels too,
The wise men brought their gifts for you.
The shepherds cheered, the stars shone bright,
We baked with love that special night.
Now clap your hands, shout “Hip hooray!”
We’ve done our show in a joyful way!
The best thing wasn’t cake or pie,
It’s all your hard work—oh my, oh my!
We have enjoyed:
- Learning about floating and sinking - Gracie and Alfie.
- Completing my hot write on trapping a bunny - Roberta.
- Completing the Christmas colouring challenge - Grey.
- Playing elements at playtime - Archie.
- Tasting the smoothies - Noah and Edie.
- Performing our nativity - Bea.
- Drawing the Grinch - George.
- Being the donkey in the nativity - Sophie.
- Making a berry suprise at Forest School - Loris.
Have a fabulous weekend, one week to go!!
