Willow class Blog Autumn 1 Week 7
Date: 17th Oct 2025 @ 2:58pm
What a week in Willow from Harvest to introducing Ampney Crucis' Nativity of 2025 'The Bethlehem Bake off!' we have had a week full of celebrations.
We started the week with exploring our play project of harvest. We created pumpkins, wreaths, baskets and great Harvest stories. We have also shared what we are thankful for on a pumpkin. We continued to learn to play the violin with a bow and learnt the appropriately named 'Willow Waltz'.
In Maths Y1 have looked at number bonds to 5 using numberblocks. Y2 have looked at addition using bridging and near doubles. This was very challenging! In English we have been a exploring a new way of doing things. We have been placing focus on our sentence construction skills, using adjectives to desribe animals. Some Year 2s have been identifying non-ficition texts and features in preperation for wrting their own fact file about meerkats.
In History, we finished our learning on Amy Johnson, looking at clues to discuss the events of her final flight. During PSHE we talked about our emotions and disucssed who our trusted adults are. In RE we continued to look at the creation story and created our own stained-glass windows. In Computing we looked at digital devices and staying safe online. We finished the week by exploring the sense of touch by feeling different objects.
In Forest school Rowan showed us how to make a class pencil and we enjoyed getting muddy. Our Y1 phonics sound this week is i-e and year 2 are adding -ing to verbs ending in y.
We enjoyed walking to church on Tuesday to celebrate Harvest Festival. Well done Willow on Fabulous singing. We have now learnt the first song of the nativity and found out our parts. Lines and costume ideas will go home next week. Well done to India and Daisy for earning their DT licenses.
