Willow Class Blog Autumn 1 Week 4
Date: 26th Sep 2025 @ 4:49pm
What a busy week of learning we have had had in Willow class. We have loved having the drier weather but definitely feel a chill in the air.
We started the week by planning a play project around Mixed.Mixed: A Colorful Story - Read Aloud Children's Book We have created some fantastic signs, explored colour mixing and enjoyed completing the rainbow walking science experiment. We have also enjoyed earning our DT licenses, well done to Loris and Octaviah. Some Year 2s have begun to explore different stitches and are well on their way to earning their licences. In Violin, we enjoyed following the beat and learnt a harvest song. We pick up our bows on Monday!
In English this week we finished learning the text. We began to generate ideas for places that Sunny could visit, we had zoos to China and even the Eiffel Tower. We then began to box up our stories. Miss Jackson is so impressed by how we have persevered and listened carefully to plan our journey stories. We look forward to writing them next week. In Maths year 1s finished their place value learning by looking at one more and one less. Today we began to look at 2D shapes. The sticky boxes in maths were also introduced and Year 1 had great fun learning how to use them. In Year 2 we looked at 10 more and 10 less and enjoyed exploring new 2D shapes today.
In History we looked at Australia on the globe and enjoyed sharing with Mrs Chadwick her experiences of Australia. We looked at the distance and what countries Amy would have travelled through. We looked at how long the journey took and how dangerous it would have been. We also watched a clip today looking at the job of a pilot. This also touched up the journey Amy took. KS1 / KS2 PSHE: Proud to be a pilot - BBC Teach We looked at reasons the trip proved so dangerous and difficult for Amy. In RE we looked at another version of the creation story and each filled our paint pot with what we would need to create a day of the creation story. We had pots filled with stars, animals and creatures. In Art we went on a nature walk and collected objects to create a collage with next week. In Computing we continued to look at IT, focusing on IT in public places. In Forest school we made very cool conker spiderwebs.
Today is a special day as it is national teaching assistant day! We said a huge thank you to Julia and Mrs Gardener. We also want to thank all the fabulous adults in our school.
