Willow Class blog - Autumn 1 Week 3
Date: 19th Sep 2025 @ 12:58pm
Another fabulous week of learning in Willow.
We have finished learning the story map of Meerkat Mail using our actions, we look forward to sharing this on the website next week. We have practised writing sentences using conjunctions and also looked at using adverbials to solve problems. In Maths Y1 have looked at less and more when comparing amounts of objects and Y2s have been ordering numbers.
In Science, we have explored the sense of hearing by creating different sounds and describing them. In History, we retold the story of Amy Johnson through role play and came up with adjectives to describe the kind of person she was. We described her as brave, caring, ambitious and fearless. In RE, we began to look at the creation story and discussed what a creator might look like. We each drew what we think they may look like. We continued with our violin lessons and learned more notes. In Art, we completed some observational drawings of natural objects, looking closely at light and shading.
In Forest school we enjoyed making beautiful woven bird feeders, fishing and exploring the changing of the seasons. In KS1 worship we looked at the story Mixed: An Inspiring Story About Color – 🎨 Fun read aloud kids book by Arree Chung identifying how we are all different and special. We looked at how the colours initially lived seperately but soon began to mix and realised how happy they were. We talked about never giving up and never assuming somebody cannot do something as they mind find it more difficult. We watched a clip from Strictly come dancing with Chris (who is blind) dancing and talked about how special it was. We talked about using our other senses and how he persevered. We related this back to respect and caring for others.
In Explore and Learn we completed a play project around planes and created our own poetry, planes and our own small airport. Well done to Alfie, Della, Ralph and Woody for earning their DT licenses. We also chose our school council reps today. Well done to Toby, Bea, Ralph and Woody. Also a huge well done to everyone who shared why they would be a good school council member.
