Date: 21st Nov 2025 @ 12:48pm

Snow is falling, all around us! We have been super excited to see the snow beginning to fall this week. It’s been a chilly one so it is super important everyone is wrapped up each day. Gloves, hats and scarves are essential as we are outdoors all weathers. We have loved in explore and learn making mixtures and looking closely at ice.

We started the week with our play project themed around the first flight and planes following our visit to Bristol Aerospace! We watched a video about the Wright brothers and discussed how planes have changed over time. "Great Inventors: The Wright Brothers" by Adventure Academy

For our play project we have made goggles, created paper planes, acted out an airport and enjoyed playing with small world.

Our nativity is beginning to come together. We have been practising scenes and had a full run through together today. Next week we are going to begin to make our props. Please continue to practise.

In English, we wrote some very special letters to a special person. We wrote our letters to Santa! We thought about our achievements this year and what gift we want to give to others, we thought about kindness, friendship and helping others. We even listened to Christmas music whilst writing them! We continued to explore the dragon machine with group 1 looking at the noises the dragon machine made. Click, clang, clatter! Group 2 looked at features of our model text and loved matching the vocabulary to define and exploring glossaries.

In Maths, Year 1s have looked at tens and ones. We have looked at what more and less means and we have been introduced to inequality signs. We have also learnt to count carefully in 2s and 10s unpicking number structure on the hundred square. Year 2s have looked at number lines to subtract and using number bonds to 10 to solve subtraction problems. We have been working on counting in 3s. We are designing them in explore and learn. Next week please send an old pillowcase in for us to crate our capes.

In PE we continued to practise throwing and catching. We will very chilly from Forest school so did some cosmic yoga to warm up too! Here is another to have a go at home! Pedro the Penguin | A Cosmic Kids Yoga Adventure! - YouTube

In Computing we used shapes to create animals on the chromebooks using  PaintZ. In Science we looked at the properties of materials and described them.

Phonics this week involved year 1 learning 5 long vowel sounds a, e, i, o and u. They have been super focused and Miss Jackson is super excited as next weeks sound is her favourite! Year 2s have learnt adding the suffixes -er and -est to root words ending in y. We also loved seeing Kit and Sam perform in the talent contest.
