Willow Class Autumn 2 Week 1
Date: 7th Nov 2025 @ 12:47pm
What an amazing week have we have had in Willow. With the weather changing we have enjoyed discussing the seasons and completing our daily calendar. We are also excited that a certain ‘Christmas’ word is beginning to drip into our learning. We did our first nativity rehearsal and have learnt our places for the first songs. Please keep practising lines, it is really important the children know who comes before and after them too. We have also learnt song 3 and 4, practise them here! Bethlehem Is A Long Way Off - Bethlehem Bake-Off Nativity- Sing Along and Onwards To Bethlehem Town - Bethlehem Bake-Off Nativity- Sing Along.
What a start to the week! We were super proud of how we performed to our grownups in our violin showcase! We have loved learning the violin and look forward to playing more with our bow for the final two lessons. We also love clapping the beat to golden! We also explored Bonfire Night. We looked at the story of the Gunpowder plot. KS1 History: The Gunpowder Plot - BBC Teach. We have enjoyed making our own bonfires, smores, fireworks and firework art. We have also used some ideas from Forest school to explore printing and texture using the playdoh.
In English we have introduced our new class text ‘The dragon machine’ by Helen Ward. The Dragon Machine by Helen Ward - YouTube. We have enjoyed listening to the story and writing about the trouble the dragons got up to. We have also looked at how to build a dragon machine.
Year 1s in Maths have looked at numbers to 100 and loved creating our own hundred squares. We have also enjoyed understanding the tens and ones in each number. We are experts! Year 2s have looked at using adding using exchanging. This has been really complicated but we have risen to the challenge. Can you be the shop keeper for us and let us exchange 10 ones for one ten?
In RE, we looked at the communities we belong to and how we all attend different clubs that make us unique. We enjoyed drawing all the different communities we are part of. In PSHE, we talked about being individual. We talked about our likes and dislikes and how we all look different. We also talked about respect and being kind to ourselves and others. In Computing, we have used digital painting tools to create our own painting. PaintZ What art can you create at home. In PE, we learnt the rules of handball, practising our overarm throwing and intercepting skills. In Science, we looked at different materials and identified classroom objects and what material they are made of.
