A Busy Week of Learning in Willow Class!

We have had another fantastic week of learning across the curriculum.

In Science, we compared amphibians, fish and reptiles, discussing their different characteristics and what makes each group unique.

During PSHE, we talked about our classroom rules and shared ideas about what our ideal classroom would look like. We discussed how we can work together to create a positive, respectful and welcoming learning environment for everyone.

In Computing, we continued exploring how technology is all around us. We identified different devices, talked about their purposes and learned more about how they help us in our everyday lives.

In Music, we continued to explore pitch and beat through a variety of fun games, helping us develop our listening skills and musical understanding.

In Maths, Year 1 have been practising counting backwards, developing one-to-one correspondence and exploring the concepts of fewer and less. Year 2 have been learning about inequality signs and ordering numbers.

In English, we have been practising our curly caterpillar letters and have been working hard to remember the tricky words go, no, they and to. Year 1 have been changing the animal and vehicle in their dictation sentences, while Year 2 have been using the power of three to create more detailed and engaging descriptions. In Phonics Year 1 learnt the oy sound for /oi/ and Year 2 dge and ge for /j/. 

In History, we sequenced the key events of the Great Fire of London, helping us understand the order in which this important historical event unfolded. We were also able to understand how quickly the fire spread. 

In Art, we continued exploring primary and secondary colours by creating number artwork inspired by Jasper Johns. Have a look at our Art below to see some of our wonderful creations!

During Explore and Learn, we continued answering our question for the week, 'How can we transport animals?' We used our creativity to design and make adapted vehicles, create fishing rods, produce posters and develop our own inventive designs. It was wonderful to see so many thoughtful ideas and problem-solving skills in action.

During Worship, Mrs Duffey talked to us about respect using the story Little Rabbit Foo Foo by Michael Rosen. We discussed the consequences of Little Rabbit Foo Foo's actions and thought carefully about how our choices can affect others. Little Rabbit Foo Foo (STORY BOOK)
