Week ending Friday 17th October
Date: 19th Oct 2025 @ 2:14pm
Chestnut Class loved reading back through their fantastic stories based on Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx. It was so lovely to see them all quietly reading their work, written over 3 weeks, and feeling proud of their achievements. We are continuing with the Egyptian theme as we write news reports on Howard Carter's discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb, in 1922.
Mr Batchelor was very pleased with the wonderful pyramids the children created in History and I am happy (& relieved!) to announce that lots of Year 3s have now moved on from x 2 on their weekly times tables test. The Year 4s had their first taste of the Multiplication Test Check, and, although the speed of the questions was a bit of a shock, most did reasonably well for a first attempt!
Mrs Paxford has been impressed with the children's artwork over the past couple of weeks and I thought their singing in the Harvest Festival was really lovely.
Of course, the highlight of the term has been our epic Oxford adventure. I cannot tell you how proud I am of the way they conducted themselves at both museums, as well as when walking through the busy streets between sites. If I could sear an image into my mind forever, it would be of their delighted faces as James, our guide and storyteller, at the Story Museum, regaled them with a 'tale of old'!
