week 5
Date: 4th Oct 2026 @ 1:25pm
Week 5 has had some lovely moments, within Chestnut Class. It was fantastic to be joined by so many parents and carers for our reading cafe.
In English, this week, the children were thrilled to read their finished stories, based on 'Leon and the Place Between', and felt proud of their achievement.
We enjoyed investigating friction and how this can impact the speed at which an object travels in science, and in maths Year 3 got stuck into decimals, for the first time, and did a great job!
We had a lovely on-line author session with Sheena Dempsey, creator of the Pablo and Splash series, where she showed us how to draw the 2 penguins from her books.
French for Year 3 saw them making finger puppets and performing a rhyme. In History we thought about how the Romans were able to build and contain such a huge empire and RE saw us writing newspaper reports about Adam and Eve.
Hopefully, the beautiful ceramic birds from last week's workshop made it home in one piece!
