Week 3, Spring term 2

Date: 10th Mar 2024 @ 8:25pm

Gosh, what a busy week we have had in Chestnut Class!

Year 3 had their final Forest School session of the year on Monday, whilst Y4 had fun in PE.

The children gamely took on lots of assessments between Monday morning and Wednesday afternoon, covering maths reasoning, arithmetic, reading and grammar, some of which we have gone through and others we will revisit next week.

Thursday was a super World Book Day where we did activities based around a sci-fi book (A Robot Squashed My Teacher). These included designing inventions, taking inspiration from the book and also Wallace and Gromit's 'Cracking Contraptions'; drawing scenes from the 'Central Research Lab', and discussing what we would tell our pets and vice versa if we could truly communicate with them. The day flew by in a flurry of reading and reading based activities: no better way than to celebrate books!

Friday was another fantastic day where we spent time in the morning creating something lovely for Mothering Sunday, before heading to the Barn Theatre for the Year of Reading project's Lierature Festival. Hearing Steve Skinley talk about his childhood in Cirencester had inspired his book, The Otherlands, was exciting for the children.

Together we live, learn and flourish
