Term 4 week 2
Date: 8th Mar 2026 @ 3:33pm
Another busy week!
Thank you for the support given to the children with their World Book Day wooden spoons and 'genre' costumes. As always, they were very creative!
Maths this week has been quite a challenge for some as we have moved onto formal written methods of multiplying and dividing. Having good recall of the times tables facts (and their corresponding division facts) is essential for this, which is why we encourage children to do as much work on these as possible - both in school and at home.
In English, we wrote some inventive descriptive writing for our maps, using prepositions, subordinate clauses and expanded noun phrases. I think the children enjoyed having the opportunity to 'build' their own story setting.
Mr Stone has replaced Mrs Balloch, for the rest of this term, on Monday afternoons. He will take on the teaching of science and computing. The children know Mr Stone and he is looking forward to working with our class.
DT sounded fun, this week, as the class tested how pneumatic toys work and Year 3 are enjoying learning about Antarctica with Mrs Nelson. They also played Simon says (Jacques a dit) to help them learn body parts in French, too!
The children chosen for the Panathlon event had an enjoyable morning, on Thursday, and were great representatives for our school. Mrs Paxford and Mrs Hardy, who accompanied them, were impressed with their team spirit and behaviour.
