Term 4 week 1

Date: 27th Feb 2026 @ 4:08pm

What a lovely week back! The children have been working hard this week having settled well after half term.

In English, we investigated maps in children's literature and used our findings to create our own. The children were very creative, both with drawing their map and coming up with intriguing place names. We will continue to work on the writing for this next week.

For both year groups, Maths has been focusing on using more formal ways to multiply. This continues next week. We are all really enjoying the extra Problem Solving time which I introduced in January, as well.

New topics have been started in other subjects such as looking at Pneumatic Toys in  D.T., Plants in Science, Antarctica in Geography and Branching Databases in Computing.

Today, the whole school enjoyed the Winter Olympics even organised by Kingshill sports leaders and it was wonderful to see every Chestnut member trying new activities and encouraging each other.

We have been joined by 2 new pupils, recently, and both children are settling in well. Welcome to Kasper, Ruby and their families.

This is a short, but busy, term with World Book Day next Thursday and Science Week from the 9th. Hold onto your hats!

Together we live, learn and flourish
