Maple Class - Summer 2, week 4
Date: 27th Jun 2025 @ 10:08pm
We can't believe how quickly our last term in Maple is going. It felt very strange with Oak being out on residential this week. This week our book focus was The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson and we continued to look at sea creatures.
In Phonics this week we have been revising all the graphemes we have learnt, plus tricky words and practising reading lots of words from level 3 and 4. We have also been doing our Phonics assessments and are so pleased with how much progress the children have made. They have worked so hard.
In maths we have continued to look at number stories for combining groups, taking away, how many fewer than and number stories for hidden numbers. We looked at representing the stories as a group with items crossed off, the a part part whole model and bar model.
We introduced our Play Project for the week and children straight away set about getting creative in making all sorts of constrctions, artwork and models around the story The Snail and the Whale.
We had our last group of children share their Show and Tell items with Willow class - well done Daisy-Mai, Octaviah, Leone, Buny and India.
In RE this week with Mr Villa we looked at which stories are special to Christian and Jewish people and read the story of David and Goliath.
We've enjoyed lots of time in Explore and Learn this week, making brithday cakes in the mud kitchen, lots of creative woodwork in the Tinkering Shed, heaps of junk modelling and art work - we have loved seeing all the creations the children come up with themselves.
Have a lovley weekend and enjoy the sunshine.
