Maple class - Spring 2, week 5
Date: 27th Mar 2026 @ 1:26pm
This week we have been thinking about the Easter story. In Forest School we made Easter gardens and we put the crosses we had made in RE in the gardens. We included the tomb and stone where Jesus’ body was laid. We designed and made Easter cards to take home for our family (please find them in your child’s book folders).
In music we loved having you come into school for our ukulele workshop.
In maths we have been learning to partition to 8. We worked really hard with our friends to find all the pairs to 8. We also carried on thinking about 2d shapes and enjoyed exploring the puzzles on Friday.
In Phonics we have been recapping our level 3 sounds and thinking about our letter formations. We have also been doing amazing caption writing – we have independently been writing Easter themed captions such as ‘the chick is in the box’ and writing captions as to where the egg can be found ‘the egg is on the pig’, ‘the egg is in the boat’, ‘the egg is on the swing’, ‘the egg is in the car’. Well done Maple, you have been thinking hard about the sounds in words and using your spelling fingers to help you sound out words to write.
We've been very productive in our Explore and Learn time. Elsie made a wonderful wooden cross in the work shed outside and we had fabulous imagination in the role play areas. We have been making wonderful observations on how our bulbs and seeds are growing and we drew and wrote about our observations.
We enjoyed walking to the church on Thursday for our Easter service. Thank you to all of you who were able to join us and see our paintings of ‘New Life’. We walked sensibly down to the church and were paired up with the year 6 children.
Lisa from the library came in to read Easter themed stories to us on Thursday. She read The Dinosaur that Popped Easter by Tom Fletcher and Dougie Poynter There's a Bunny in Your Book by Tom Fletcher.
We had fun on our Easter egg hunt Friday morning and made our own Easter baskets to collect our chocolates up in! We also watched a cbeebies film about Easter.
Well done to Ottilie, Ollie, BeaBea, Lili and Ruby. Who all received certificates in our celebration worship this week.
Have a wonderful Easter break and we look forward to seeing you in the summer term where we hope to see some more sunny weather! We are also very excited about starting our cooking sessions in Maple.
