Maple class - Autumn 2, week 4

Date: 27th Nov 2025 @ 3:32pm

This week our book focus has been A Superhero Like You by Dr Ranj.  We thought about the Superheros who help us every day.  This week it was exciting as we had Chris visit us who used to be a vet before he retired.  He showed us lots of animal xrays including a spoon in a dogs tummy and puppies growing inside their mummy.  We had lots of questions for him and he brough in his stethoscope and we listened to his heart beat!

In Phonics this week we have focused on words which contain medial ‘e’.  We have been brilliant at blending and segmenting CVC words such as sell, den, neck, fed.  We used magnetic letters to make words and at the end of the week labelled pictures, following on from last week – we are getting so quick and independent at this!

In maths we have been counting 9 and in Forest School we counted 9 objects we found.

Wednesday was our Superhero Day where we could come dressed as our favorite superhero – we looked wonderful!  We made our own superhero puppets and thought about what our super powers would be.

Thursday afternoon we made our Christingles ready for our Christingle service Thursday at 5:30pm, we hope to see lots of you there.  We learnt about what each part of the Christingle represents:

Candle – represent Jesus being the light of the world.

Dried fruit / sweets – represents God’s creations in the four seasons.

Red ribbon – represents God’s love for the world and the blood of Jesus when he died on the cross.

Orange – represents the world.

We hope you have a lovely long weekend, just to remind you we are closed for children on Friday and Monday for Inset days.  We look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday ready for start looking at all things Christmas!  We hope to see lots of you at our Christmas Craft afternoon on Tuesday 2nd December at 2pm.

Together we live, learn and flourish
