Autumn term 1 week 1

Date: 7th Sep 2025 @ 12:06pm

Hello,

We have had a lovely first week back in Chestnut Class and I have been so impressed with the way the children have come into school and taken the changes in their stride!

We spent the first couple of days doing getting to know you and first week-style activities, to ease the children in. These included an 'interview a friend' activity, as well as producing some fun self-portraits for display. A couple of Ready to Progress maths tests have been undertaken which have helped provide me with the areasfrom last year that we are a little rusty on - as well as the ones we are confident in.

In English, we began our poetry unit writing Japanese Haikus, which the children all seemed to enjoy.

In the afternoons, Mr Batchelor and Mrs Paxford have begun topic work in Art, History and Science and Y3 had quite a wet, but enjoyable, first session of Forest School on Wednesday!

Next week, I aim to start building in handwriting and dictation sessions, first thing each morning. The idea being to ease into our normal Y3/4 tumetable over the next few weeks.

Dates:

Swimming starts for Year 4 on Weds 17th September.

Recorders for the whole class begins Thursday 18th September.

Together we live, learn and flourish
